Tor - Epoxy Surface Tolerant Primer is a high performance two pack epoxy primer for manually cleaned steel. Particularly of interest in “safety” areas where “blast cleaning” is not allowed.

TorLife Surface Tolerant Primer is a high performance 2-component epoxy/polyamide coating for priming non-convertable coatings such as Pliolite or Chlorinated Rubber, prior to application of TorLife Exterior Anti-Graffiti Coatings.

Epoxy/Polyamide binder with anti corrosive and inorganic pigments and thinned with Aromatic Hydrocarbon and Alcohol solvents.

Offers excellent substrate ‘wetting’ properties making it suitable for hand prepared steel as well as blast cleaned steel. Provides good chemical and solvent resistance, with high film builds achievable in just one coat.

Intended to be used as a primer coat for 1803 HB Epoxy Intermediate/Finish as a two coat system providing long term protection for metal substrates. Ultimate protection can be achieved by finishing the system with a coat of 1804 High Build Polyurethane Finish, increasing the system performance to 25 years!

Application Details:

Apply by brushing or spraying for structural steel work. Airless spray is preferred for large areas such as storage tanks.

Surface Preparation:

A generally acceptable standard of cleanliness for steel is Swedish Standard ST2 for manual cleaning. Avoid excessive burnishing. Wash down and remove all loose contamination. Ensure all loose rust is removed before painting Remove all loose dirt before painting.

The surface should be clean, dry and free from any surface contamination. Any loose or flaking material should be removed and scraped back to a firm edge.

Touch dry in 8 hours, hard dry in 48 hours at 20°C. Theoretical coverage 10 square meters per litre. Practical coverage 8 square meters per litre. Supplied as a base and activator in correct proportions to make 5 litres.
