Mapei - Silancolor Primer Plus is a highly protective siloxane, mildew and mould-resistant primer that is used in interior and exterior to uniform the absorbency of the substrate, making it suitable for the following application of Silancolor Primer Plus range finishes.

Recommended Use

Preparation of substrates before painting in case of facades deteriorated by moulds and algae or surfaces on which a treatment to prevent their growth has to be carried out.

Characteristics

Silancolor Primer Plus, together with paints and coatings from Silancolor Plus range, is part of a finishing cycle for interior and exterior which grants specific protection from moulds and algae, as well as high protection from chemical attack, UV rays and humidity in general, while preserving the breathability of the substrate and making it highly water-repellent.

Silancolor Primer Plus is a silane and siloxane-based primer in water emulsion with high penetration capacity. Silancolor Primer Plus uniforms the absorbency of the substrate and acts as adhesion promoter. Silancolor Primer Plus is odourless and solvent-free, for this reason it is suitable for applications in closed or poorly ventilated environments. Silancolor Primer Plus contains a specific product for mould and algae growth control.

Application Procedure

Preparation of the substrate

New surfaces or repaired areas to be treated must be cured and perfectly clean, sound and dry. Remove any trace of oils or grease and detaching parts. Remove all traces of algae, mould and fungi, if already present. Removal must be carried out when the surface is wet, after thoroughly washing the surface with Silancolor Cleaner Plus.

Silancolor Cleaner Plus must be applied on the whole surface using a low-pressure hand spray pump or a brush, leaving the product to react for a few minutes and letting it penetrate deep in the substrate. Then remove algae, moulds and fungi mechanically by brushing. Repeat application more than once and continuously apply Silancolor Cleaner Plus, allowing it to penetrate deep in the substrate. Seal any cracks if present and repair damaged areas before application. Fill pores in concrete and level off irregularities on the substrate using mortars and skimcoats from MAPEI Building Line.

Silancolor Primer Plus is supplied ready for use. Shake well before application.

Application of the product

If walls were previously washed using Silancolor Cleaner Plus, it is sufficient to wait until the surface is completely dry before applying Silancolor Primer Plus. Accurately stir Silancolor Primer Plus before use and apply it with Traditional means, such as brush, roller or spray. Protect the treated surface from rain for at least 12 hours after application. Wait 12-24 hours, according to temperature and humidity, and in any case until the substrate is completely dry. Then apply the chosen finish from the Silancolor Plus range.
