Mapei Silancolor Primer is a silane and siloxane-based primer in water emulsion, it regulates absorption and has breathable properties. It is used both in interior and exterior to uniform the absorbency of the substrate, making it suitable for the following application of Silancolor range finishes.

Preparing and priming wall surfaces before applying siloxane or acryl-siloxane paints and coatings.

Characteristics

Silancolor Primer, together with paints and coatings from Silancolor range, is part of a finishing cycle for interior and exterior which grants high protection from chemical attack, UV rays and humidity in general, while preserving the breathability of the substrate and making it highly water-repellent.

Silancolor Primer is a silane and siloxane-based primer in water emulsion with high penetration capacity. Silancolor Primer uniforms the absorbency of the substrate and acts as adhesion promoter. Silancolor Primer helps dust consolidation on surfaces to be treated. Silancolor Primer is odourless and solvent-free, for this reason it is suitable for applications in closed or poorly ventilated environments.

Application Procedure

Preparation of the substrate

New surfaces or repaired areas to be treated must be cured and perfectly clean, sound and dry. Remove any trace of oils or grease and detaching parts. Seal any cracks if present and repair damaged areas before application. Fill pores in concrete and level off irregularities on the substrate using mortars and skimcoats from MAPEI Building Line.

Preparation of the product

Silancolor Primer is supplied ready to use. Shake well before application.

Application of the product

Accurately stir Silancolor Primer before use and apply it by brush, roller or spray. Protect the treated surface from rain for at least 12 hours after application. Wait 12-24 hours, according to temperature and humidity, and in any case until the substrate is completely dry. Then apply the chosen finish from the Silancolor range.
