Recommended use
For new and renovation coatings of wooden windows and doors, wall and ceiling claddings, soffits, shutters, garage doors, etc.
Can be used on concrete, plaster, rigid PVC and galvanised steel after pre-treatment. For interior use, especially suitable for rooms with high moisture loads.
Features
Substrate preparation
The wood substrate must be clean, solid and load-bearing. The wood moisture content should be 12 - 14%. Wood that has been exposed to UV light and weathering for a long time must always be sanded. A greyed lignin layer must be completely removed by sanding, brushing or blasting. Basic sanding may be necessary for smooth planed surfaces.
Old coatings must be checked for their load-bearing capacity. If they adhere poorly to the substrate, they must be removed completely. Sound old coatings must be sanded down well and dusted off. The adhesion to the substrate must be checked by laying a test surface.
Remove resin pockets before treatment. Resin leakage and resin discolouration are natural and cannot be prevented by coating measures. Ensure sufficient structural wood protection before coating work.
Protect exterior wood against blue stain and rot with profilan-prevent impregnation primer, depending on the requirements of DIN 68800. In order to largely prevent penetration of the wood ingredients during the first coating, we recommend pre-treatment of light colour shades with profilan-secur insulating varnish. As an economical alternative, profilan-secur insulating varnish can also be used as a primer and final coat.
Application on plaster, concrete, rigid PVC and galvanised steel
Remove coatings that do not adhere firmly. New concrete and sanding plaster surfaces must be primed with a solvent-based or hydrosol deep primer. No glossy surfaces should be created. Surfaces made of rigid PVC (gutters, downpipes, etc.) must be roughened well with sandpaper or sanding fleece and washed with thinner before painting. Further information can be found in BFS Leaflet 22 "Coatings on plastic in building construction". When used on galvanised steel, the substrate must be prepared with an ammoniacal wetting agent wash or a suitable cleaning concentrate.
Instructions
Stir well before use. For brushing/rolling we recommend special brushes/rollers for waterborne acrylic paints.
Use a suitable abrasive for intermediate sanding (grit 180-220). To avoid uneven moisture absorption, coat all sides of wooden components. Do not apply and dry below + 10° C (ambient air, substrate and material) and not in direct sunlight.
The adhesion of sealants for connection joints must be tested on the coating beforehand.
Painting method
The coatings are generally applied undiluted. On raw wood and highly absorbent substrates, a dilution of 5-10% with water may be necessary for the first coat.
