Envirograf ES/VFR Fire Protection Coating is to be used as part of a complete system including selected primers and topcoats to offer a clear/white coating suitable for upgrading new and already coated timber and certain wood related surfaces to British Standard Class 0 & 1 and EU standard B/s1/d0.
Application
Note: It is important to ensure the moisture content of the wood substrate is below 12% / 14% before application and the application must be made in a warm, dry area. Ensure the wood is dry before application.
Always mix the tin thoroughly to ensure the product is well mixed.
Application onto new wood – ensure the area is dust free. ES/VFRC can be applied by roller, brush or spray. If the wood is to be stained (any Sikkens or Jotun specialist product can be applied first or over ES/VFRC). Application – 2 coats at 10m² per litre, per coat, ensure first coat is thoroughly dry before applying the second coat. Add up to 10% water if spraying this product. The contents must be thoroughly mixed before use. Use a 2.5mm to 3mm nozzle.
Application over existing paint or varnish – ensure the surface is thoroughly clean. Apply one coat of Envirograf® ES/VFR/P clear primer at 10-12 m² per litre. Then apply ES/VFRC. ES/VFRC must have a Top Protective Coating. IT MUST NEVER BE LEFT OVERNIGHT WITHOUT APPLYING THE TOP COAT
NB.The coverage on the first coat could vary according to the density or type of timber. Proprietary paint / varnish can be used as a final finish if required. For suitable applications, contact our Technical Department. Trials in small areas must always be carried out prior to full application, as colour performance varies according to substrate structure.
If applying ES/VFR to oak, apply one coat of HWAP Primer first to seal the wood; as oak has iron in it and ES/VFR being water based, may cause the iron to go black. Product 42 HWAP PRIMER MUST BE APPLIED ON CEDAR.
