t2 DEF-STAN 80-56 is a single pack, epoxy modified stoving enamel with a matt finish for spray application onto small arms and other items such as gear boxes, winch casings, automotive parts and other components.
This product is used extensively for application on to small arms and components and in the commercial and military Aerospace Industry it is also ideal for use in Renowned for its incredibly hard-wearing finish, T2 DEF STAN 80-56 that can take on some of the harshest, physically demanding environments.
T2 DEF STAN 80-56 from Maker Coating Systems Ltd is a modern day single pack, epoxy modified, stoving enamel, manufactured entirely in the United Kingdom.
The system is easy to apply on to a correctly prepared substrate and once post curing has been completed, provides a smooth, matt finish, resistant to an extensive range chemicals.
Available in several military, off the shelf colours, camouflage schemes can be achieved during the paint process through partially stoving prior to final post curing.
T2 DEF STAN 80-56 can be applied directly to clean, properly prepared, ferrous steels including phosphated surfaces, but also to nonferrous metals such as aluminium alloys and stainless steels.
Where tight tolerances are required, T2 DEF STAN 80-56 can be applied directly to a keyed surface using a 120 grit blasting medium. In other applications where blasting is not appropriate, or tolerances are not an issue a T2 etch primer can be used.
T2 DEF STAN 80-56 can be applied using commercial spray gun, brush or aerosol can, but being a single pack coating, what you don’t use can go back in to the can, or simply invert the aerosol and blow out the paint it has a shelf life of at least a year once opened.
T2 DEF STAN 80-56 is simple; apply two to three thin coats, allowing each coat to flash off for 50 mins between coats. After the final coat allow to flash off for 15 minutes and post cure in an oven for 60 minutes @ 180-200 °C. If camouflage is to be applied partially cure in an oven for 15 – 20 mins @ 120°C then apply the camouflage pattern. Once the camouflage pattern has been applied, place back in the oven for final post curing @ 180-200 °C for 60 minutes.
T2 DEF STAN 80-56 specs for Black as per defence standards 80-56.
Thickness: sub 25 microns (1 thousandth of an inch)
The following chart shows typical resistance of our T2 DEF STAN 80-56 coating. The performance should only be taken as a guide to selection, and we recommend that trials be conducted to confirm the product meets individual requirements. Green shading shows full resistance; yellow shading indicates that the coating has been attacked but is still giving protection
