Rustoleum - 5401 Epoxy Primer is a solvent-free epoxy impregnation primer for concrete and other porous, mineral surfaces.

Recommended Use 

Rustoleum Impregnation Primer 5401 is designed for application on concrete and masonry and is primarily intended for roller and brush application. Provides a good key for adhesion on porous, mineral substrates prior to the application of several RUST-OLEUM Systems like; 9100, 5500, Pegakote, 9400 and can also be used as a tack-coat for 5180 Epoxy Repair Mortar.

Directions For Use 

Stir individual components thoroughly before mixing them together. Use a low speed mixer in combination with the boxing method.

Application Conditions 

Temperature of air and substrate between 10 and 35°C and relative humidity below 85%. The substrate temperature must be at least 3°C above dewpoint.

Application & Thinning: Brush 

Use natural bristles, longhair brushes. Thinning: Absorbent mineral substrates like concrete: Very porous: up to 20% with RUST-OLEUM 160 Thinner. Normal porosity: 10% up to 30% with RUST-OLEUM 160 Thinner. Power floated (slightly porous): 20% up to 40% with RUSTOLEUM 160 Thinner.

Application & Thinning: Roller 

Use medium nap, 12 mm, polyester rollers. For textured surfaces use long nap 14-18 mm rollers. Thinning: Absorbent mineral substrates like concrete: Very porous: up to 20% with RUST-OLEUM 160 Thinner. Normal porosity: 10% up to 30% with RUST-OLEUM 160 Thinner. Power floated (slightly porous): 20% up to 40% with RUST-OLEUM 160 Thinner.
