Teknos - Topaz 20 & 55 are a water-borne, 1-component parquet lacquer for parquet and wooden floors in homes as well as public spaces with good wear resistance.
Recommended Use
TOPAZ 20 & 55 is suitable for roller application on parquet and wooden floors. Not suitable for the lacquering of diamond pine and chemically treated wood, e.g., smoked oak.
Surface Preparation
The wood surface must be dry, well sanded and free from sanding dust and other dirt.
Untreated and clean-sanded surfaces:
Fill the gaps with GAP parquet putty. Prime the wooden surface with Teknos water-based primer lacquer according to the instructions.
Intersand, if necessary, with sandpaper or an abrasive net n:o 150 after the first primer coat. Apply 2–3 coats of TOPAZ parquet lacquer
along the grain of the wood. The drying time between coats should be at least two hours, preferably left overnight.
Factory lacquered parquets or previously lacquered floors:
Clean the floor thoroughly. Intersand gently by using sandpaper or an abrasive net n:o 100–150. Remove the sanding dust with a vacuum cleaner and finish with a clean damp cloth.
Apply 1 coat of lacquer by using a stainless steel applicator and finish with 1–2 coats. In unclear situations, conduct preliminary tests to ensure proper adhesion to old lacquer.
Note!
If the floor has previously been treated with oil, urethane or alkyd lacquer, the floor must be sanded to bare wood before lacquering.
Uneven floors should be lacquered with a brush as follows:
Apply first a thin lacquer coat.
After the lacquer has dried, intersand gently by using sandpaper n:o 100–150. After proper cleaning, apply two more coats.
Ensure that the previous lacquer coat has fully dried before applying a new one. Always stir lacquer thoroughly before use.
Some rubber types in carpets and anti-slip materials may contain plasticisers that can cause permanent surface and colour damage to the lacquer and oil coat.
Application conditions
The surface to be varnished has to be dry. The moisture content of the wood should be 7 ±2 % by weight. The temperature of the air, the surface and the lacquer shall be above +18 - 24°C and the relative humidity of the air 40 - 60% during the time of application and drying.
