Rustoleum 8399 is a single pack hygienic primer that protects (with 8300) against mild chemical exposure, occasional product spillage, frequent chemical cleaning, humidity and moisture.
Features
Recommended Use
8399 should be used on mineral substrates like concrete, brick and plastered walls, masonry and mineral fibre board. 8399 Primer should be recoated with 8300 Topcoat(s); they resist mild chemical exposure, occasional product spillage, frequent chemical cleaning, intermittent high humidity and moisture. Can be applied on cleaned, sound mineral substrates and sound, well prepared previous coatings; porous substrates should be primed with diluted 8399. Classified Class 1 Surface Spread of Flame according to BS 476; part 7 : 1987.
Surface Preperation
New concrete, plastered or brick surfaces should cure and dry for at least 30 days prior to the application of coatings. Remove grease, oil and all other surface contaminations by alkaline or high pressure (steam) cleaning. (With ND14 or FK111) Wash total surfacewith plenty of fresh/warm water or high pressure (steam) cleaning in order to remove all remnants of contamination and cleaners. Sand previous coatings, which are in good condition to remove gloss and to roughen the surface slightly. Remove non-adhering old coatings. The surface must be clean and dry during application.
Directions For Use
To ensure homogeneity, coating materials should be thoroughly stirred prior to use.
Application Conditions
Temperature of air, substrate and coating material between -10° and 35°C and relative humidity below 85%. The substrate temperature must be at least 3°C above dewpoint. Below 0°C the surface should be free from ice.
Application & Thinning: Brush
-10 to 5°C : 10-20 vol. %; RUST-OLEUM Thinner 633. > 5°C : Up to 5 vol. %; RUST-OLEUM Thinner 633. Use brushes based on a mixture of synthetic/natural bristles.
Application & Thinning: Roller
-10 to 5°C : 10-20 vol. %; RUST-OLEUM Thinner 633. > 5°C : Up to 5 vol. %; RUST-OLEUM Thinner 633. Use medium nap polyamide (perlon 8-12 mm.) rollers. Roller application may require 2 coats to achieve recommended d.f.t.
